LifeSecure- Washington Update

As you know, the Washington Cares Program has generated an unprecedented interest in private Long Term Care insurance in the state. The volume of applications resulting from this interest is putting extreme pressure on our industry. LifeSecure remains committed to supporting you and your clients through these times, however, we are implementing changes to help ensure we can process as many applications as possible in advance of the November 1st deadline imposed by the state.

Effective immediately:

1.  All existing employer groups will close once their enrollment period has concluded.

2.  All Washington employer groups will be reopened after January 1, 2022, upon request from the group’s writing agent(s) for additional employees who wish to purchase coverage.

3.  Worksite cases to whom we have assigned a group number and issued an activation email will be able to begin their enrollment on their requested date. We will be reaching out shortly to communicate which of your groups fall in this category.

4.  Agents and applicants entering an application will have to acknowledge a warning notice that policies may not be issued in advance of November 1st on every application.

5.  Enrollment periods will be shortened to 14 calendar days to allow for closer management of capacity.

6.  Groups that previously indicated an interest in enrolling, but have not been assigned a group number will be revisited in 2022.

Please also be aware that LifeSecure can make NO COMMITMENT OR WARRANTY that your client’s long term care insurance policy will be issued before the State of Washington’s deadline for private long term care insurance coverage. If your client’s policy is issued after the state’s deadline, your client may be disqualified from obtaining an exemption from the WA Cares program and the respective payroll tax premium payments.
