What is this and what does it have to do with me?
I hate leaving my family on a Sunday for a business trip. I start thinking about the trip on Saturday - preparing for meetings & packing.
This week, I'm attending NABIP's (Formerly NAHU) Capitol Conference in Washington D.C. It's where the employee benefits industry gathers together to take on BIG issues in our industry and meet with legislators on Capitol Hill. I've got meeting lined up with my local congress members, plus staff of Senator Tim Scott (SC), who's on the Senate Committee of Aging.
These next few days, I won't be selling anything..... other than the idea that private LTC Insurance plays a crucial role in financing extended healthcare in America.
Why leave on Sunday? Why travel from LA to D.C.? To have a voice and to represent LTC Insurance professionals as the chair of NABIP's LTC Working Group.
A lobbyist once told me, "You either have a seat at the table or you're on the menu!"
I encourage anyone reading this to get involved. Join an industry group like NABIP, NAIFA or Finseca. That's the only way to tell our story & share the value of this planning we're so passionate about.
