No Changes to the WA Cares Fund

Yesterday, Washington voters did not pass Initiative 2124. Therefore, no changes have been made to the law governing the WA Cares Fund and exemptions to the program.

“This means more than 3 million Washington workers will continue earning affordable long-term care coverage and the solvency of the program will be protected,” said Ben Veghte, director of the program. “WA Cares will provide an essential resource for Washington families who can’t afford the high costs of long-term care and family caregivers who are struggling without support.”

Seven in 10 of us will need long-term care at some point in our lives, but most of us don’t have a way to pay for it and our loved ones may not be able to provide it. This need is only growing as our population ages. Learn more about WA Cares prepares families for a more secure future

Members of the public who want to learn more can register for our WA Cares Basics: What Workers Need to Know webinar on January 15. Learn more about upcoming webinars on the WA Cares website.

Reporters who have questions about how the program works can attend a media availability today from noon -12:30 p.m. Register to attend.
